Geumjeongsan Fortress Festival 2026 runs Friday, October 16 to Sunday, October 18 at Geumjeongsanseong Plaza and the fortress area. It is a special edition because Geumjeongsan was only designated a national park in 2026, and it takes place during prime autumn foliage season.
The fortress is one of Korea's largest mountain fortresses, and walking its walls and trails lets you take in both history and nature. During the festival, programs centre on the fortress plaza.
You reach the trailhead by public transport and then walk into the mountain. There are many steps and slopes, so wear comfortable, grippy shoes.
